#1 - Mad Hatter
1) Mad Hatter by Melanie Martinez
2) Gianna Peralli, Madi Chaney, Gina Pagnotta
3) It is a narrative piece.
4) There are two girls dressed in all-white that represent conformity and the girl in color represents craziness and uniqueness. The white girls hold the red-colored girl back and try to get her to conform, but she breaks away.
5) The "painting white roses red" line directly related to the video, which was showing the red girl holding a red rose. The "all the best people are crazy" related to the shot of the red girl tossing around a bunch of balloons in the forest.
6) The conceptual idea behind the shots really worked for the piece and made us think about conformity in society.
7) Maybe if they had a better budget they could have an entirely white room and have the red girl gradually paint the room red.
8) This group illustrated the lyrics very well, 8/10.
#2 - Daydreaming
1) Daydreaming by Paramore
2) Juan Saborido-Battaglia, Tyler Resch, Kathryn Proctor
3) It is a narrative piece.
4) A girl is "daydreaming" and trying to escape her everyday life. She was trying to chase her dreams and eventually caught up, meeting up with her friends.
5) When the girl put her head down on the desk and started "daydreaming" it related to the whole chorus of the song. The "living in a city of sleepless people" line directly related to the shots of the girl rubbing her eyes.
6) The concept of her friends showing up in her daydream and "rescuing" her from her daily life worked well.
7) Sometimes the lighting did not carry over from scene to scene, so more color correction needed to be done.
8) They illustrated the lyrics fairly well, 6/10.
#3 - Love Yourself
1) Love Yourself by Justin Bieber
2) Joshua Staggs, Christin Trujillo, Joseph Zagorski
3) It is a narrative piece.
4) The girl was very conceited and sent a lot of pictures of herself to the guy and he was getting tired of it so he tried to block her on Snapchat but then she texted him another selfie, so he threw his phone into a lake.
5) The "love yourself" chorus fit with the girl taking a lot of pictures to herself. The "tell me that I'm wrong" line corresponded with the girl freaking out at her phone and getting angry.
6) The guy getting frustrated with the girl worked really well.
7) We should have seen some of the shots of what the phone was seeing. The pacing sort of dragged on and did not have a lot of content in the beginning, it was the same angle of the girl taking selfies.
8) They portrayed the lyrics poorly, 4.5/10.
#4 - White Iverson
1) White Iverson by Post Malone
2) Kaylee Misiti, Robert Gibbs
3) It was a mood piece.
4) It was confusing (Jenna) but mostly chill and slow.
5) The slow motion shots worked with the pace of the song, and it was very minimalistic as well which reflected the mood.
6) (Most) of the camera work was good and the location where they shot worked well. (The sky was pretty)
7) The song choice could have been better, the cat meows bleeping out the curse words made the video seem ridiculous.
8) They reflected the mood of the song poorly (mostly because of the cat meows), 5/10.
#5 - House of Memories
1) House of Memories by Panic! at the Disco
2) Kerri Crowley
3) It is a narrative piece.
4) A guy is trying to get over a breakup, going through his old memories like pictures and gifts. Then a girl supposedly shows up at his house at the end of the video, we don't know if it was the ex-girlfriend or a different girl.
5) The "take my picture now" line directly relates to all of the photos being on the walls of the house. The chorus "Promise me a place in your house of memories" relates to the overall story, being a house filled with the memories of his ex-girlfriend.
6) The conceptual story, the lighting and the smooth camera shots all worked really well.
7) The lipsyncing could have been better, and matching the lipsyncing to the music better as well.
8) This group illustrated the lyrics nicely, 8/10.
#6 - You've Got a Friend in Me
1) You've Got a Friend in Me by Randy Newman
2) Sybastian Newby, Julian Cohn, Robert Gibbs, Kyle Clark
3) This is a mood piece.
4) The two friends were having a good time together, so it had an uplifting mood.
5) The one friend bringing the yogurt to his other friend and them going fishing together show that they were close friends and expresses the positive and happy mood.
6) Even though it was a mood piece it still has substance because of the short stories included in the video.
7) The camera was a little shaky and there was some wasted time when the shot was of the empty driveway.
8) This group reflected the mood of the song well, 7/10.
#7 - Sleeping at Last
1) Sleeping at Last by Neptune
2) Hannah Coffaro, Savannah Israel, John Patneaude
3) This is a moody narrative piece, more mood.
4) The general mood of the video was depressing.
5) The cool coloring of the video gave it a sad disposition, and the scene where he is curled up in a ball rocking back and forth brought across the depression.
6) The camera quality (both resolution and stability) was good and the lighting was nice.
7) The shot where his fists were clenched felt stiff, but not in the correct way, so it should have been filmed more realistically.
8) This group brought across the mood really well, 9/10.
#8 - 2 Phones
1) 2 Phones by Kevin Gates
2) Hannah Vicars, Nicole Slade, Caleb VanRiper
3) This is a mood piece.
4) It was awkward, confusing and uncomfortable.
5) The guy singing into the whisk and the two people awkwardly dancing (probably against their will) portrayed the awkward mood.
6) The camera quality was nice.
7) They should have shot more footage since it was reused, and there should have been other people involved since it was only two people but it was meant to display a man that had two cellphones for two different lovers. The story element was not displayed well, and some of the shots were confusing.
8) This group did not bring across the mood well, 1/10.
#9 - Fight For Your Right
1) Fight For Your Right to Party by The Beastie Boys
2) Chris, Blake, Mike
3) This is a mood piece.
4) The mood is a "pumped up" feeling that you get at a party, but the video itself was a little confusing.
5) The people singing together and the party setting in general added to the mood.
6) The composition of the shots and the stability was nice.
7) The video is cut weird and I think there were lipsyncing scenes that were in the wrong places.
8) This group poorly reflected the mood, 3/10.
#10 - Erase Me
1) Erase Me by Kid Cudi
2) Jacob Bontregor, Kevin Bass, Alan Pissarenko
3) This was a mood(ish) piece.
4) There was not really a mood since the shots did not really evoke any emotions and was mostly confusing.
5) The running scene directly related to the line with the word "running" in it but that was really the only tie to the song. The meaningless shots don't really bring across any emotions.
6) The editing was nice and the camera stability and some of the shots worked well.
7) There is not really a narrative or a mood to this piece, so they should have picked a direction to go (and filmed outside of school.)
8) This group didn't really even bring across a mood, 2/10.
